A Smarter Approach To Softball Recruiting

Mikayla SantaCruz: Pt.1 of a Multi Blog Post Series

The recruiting process can feel overwhelming for both athletes and families. There is so much information out there, and it is not always clear what actually matters or where to start. I have been through the process myself three multiple times, from high school recruiting to the transfer portal and even exploring a fifth year. Each experience looked different, but it gave me a real understanding of how complex and unpredictable recruiting can be at every stage.

Because of that, I have seen firsthand how important it is to have guidance from someone who understands the process and can help simplify it. Recruiting is not just about sending emails or attending tournaments. It is about having a clear plan, knowing where you realistically fit, and making decisions that set you up for long term success.

That is where a more targeted approach comes in. Instead of guessing or following what everyone else is doing, athletes should focus on building a strategy that aligns with their goals. This includes evaluating programs based on academic fit, athletic opportunity, financial considerations, and location. All of these factors play a role in finding the right school, not just the level of play.

My goal is to guide athletes and families through this process in a way that is clear, organized, and intentional. With the right support and a proven approach, recruiting does not have to feel overwhelming. It becomes a process that is structured, efficient, and focused on finding the best possible fit from the start.
