Andrew Cohen

Recruiting Advisor

Andrew Cohen, born and raised in Monroe Township (MTHS 13’), played baseball for three years. He transitioned to pitching only during his collegiate career. At Rowan College South Jersey, he played for two years and earned accolades such as Garden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Region Pitcher of the Year, and participation in the NJCAA World Series. After college, he continued his education and playing career at St. Leo University and Rowan University.

Post-college, Andrew embarked on a professional playing career, traveling across the country to play independent baseball in various cities and leagues. His notable stops included the USPBL in Detroit, Michigan; the Frontier League in Chicago, Illinois; the Pacific Coast League in San Francisco, California; the CanAm league in Quebec, Canada; and the AA winter league in Aguadilla City, Puerto Rico.

Following the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, Andrew transitioned into coaching. He initially served as a part-time pitching coach at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, he pursued a Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education as a Graduate Assistant coach at Eastern New Mexico University. In this role, he worked as both a hitting and assistant pitching coach. Andrew then secured his first full-time position as a pitching coach at Coastal Bend College in South Texas.

During his time there, he received an offer to work as the head pitching coach for the Atlanta Braves’ Rookie Ball club in the Dominican Republic (MiLB-R). He spent his time living in Santo Domingo and working with the most elite 16-20 year old international talent. In this role, he learned the latest trends in biomechanics, pitch arsenal development, metrics/analytics, and advanced technologies used in the MLB and throughout professional baseball.

Currently, he serves as a pitching and recruiting director with his organization in New Jersey, the Monmouth County Oilers. Andrew has been leveraging his extensive network across the country to assist young athletes in the recruiting process. He aims to continue helping players and their families navigate the complexities of college recruiting and make informed decisions that align with their child’s future aspirations. His connections in the Northeast will undoubtedly be invaluable to all members of the FLDRS family.
