Bio

Background

Lou Sanchez is a native of Union City, New Jersey and has been a fixture in the South Florida baseball community for more than 30 years. He played four seasons at St. Thomas University from 1989–1992 before beginning his coaching career at Belen Jesuit and Miami Beach Senior High School. Lou eventually became the head coach at Miami Beach, where he won more than 100 games, captured two District championships, and led his teams to the Florida State Semifinals in each of his four seasons. He later became head coach at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School, winning the program’s first baseball district championship, before joining Florida International University as a volunteer assistant coach. Lou transitioned into professional scouting in 2008 and went on to work with the Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins, and Atlanta Braves. During his time with Atlanta, he played a role in evaluating and signing numerous players and was elevated to Area Scouting Supervisor in 2017.

Career / Playing / Coaching

  • He won more than 100 games as head coach at Miami Beach Senior High School and reached the Florida State Semifinals four consecutive years.
  • He coached at Florida International University from 2005–2007, working with infielders and serving as hitting coach during his final two seasons.
  • He spent 17 years in professional scouting and served nine years as an Area Scouting Supervisor with the Atlanta Braves.
